What we are looking for in a Test & Validation Engineer
We have recently relocated to a brand-new pilot facility to enhance our prototyping and low-volume production capabilities. A crucial position in this phase is the Test and Validation (T&V) Engineer. In this role, you will be instrumental in ensuring AeroShield meets the quality standards set by our partners and customers, facilitating the successful market launch of our new product. You will develop strategies to mitigate risks in both our products and processes and support ongoing quality assurance activities.

Responsibilities of this role will include:
- Develop optical quality image analysis system of aerogel, aerogel-composites, and Insulated Glass Units (IGUs).
- Lead and execute FMEA, DVP&R, and other related risk assessment activities.
- Develop test programs for aerogels, aerogel-composites, and IGUs to assure quality standards meet customer specifications.
- Design, develop, procure, and/or qualify test fixtures and systems.
- Design, execute, and analyze tests and experiments.
- Build aerogel-composites and aerogel insulated glass unit prototypes.
- Track quality and lead root cause analysis efforts.
- Collaborate with other team members on data analysis and interpretation.
- Support product and plant certification efforts.
- Support and implement quality systems.
This role includes a combination of tasks that can be done remotely, work that needs to be done on-site, and in-person meetings with on-site team members. We expect that a typical week will consist of 3-5 days on-site in our Waltham, MA facility.
Qualifications

Great candidates for this role enjoy learning quickly, are excited about new technologies, and possess a technical background through school and work experience.
- At least a bachelor’s degree in mechanical, mechatronics, materials engineering, or similar field
- Strong technical background in system design, automated test, and data acquisition systems
- Experience in engineering risk mitigation, and can use statistics and critical thinking skills to create effective strategies in preventative and root cause scenarios
- Excellent attention to detail and comfortable with establishing and working within structure
Bonus skills:
- Has 2-4 years of experience with Test and Validation at a hard tech startup
- Understanding of organosilane chemistry
- Experience with glass, laminate, or IGU-type materials
- Experience with bringing a product and plant through certification
- Experience with developing and implementing a quality system
