Job Overview

We are seeking a Microfluidics Scientist (full-time) to lead the development of ultra-high throughput strain screening at Anthology. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in assay development in droplets, microfluidics chip design and fabrication, and novel fluidics and optics design. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated expertise in microfluidics and creativity in problem solving for all things engineering. Our team is a small, dynamic, and interdisciplinary group of around 10 members, passionate about scaling our platform to drive innovations in food, materials, and biologics production. Your work will interface significantly with both the hardware and biology teams, and introduce new type of solutions to bottleneck biology problems.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Design, fabricate and test microfluidics chips for cell encapsulation, assay and screening

  • Integrate biological assays on chip, in particular detecting enzymes and other non-enzymatic proteins

  • Custom design screening systems for different organisms, growth phenotypes and biomolecules of interest

  • Explore new microfluidics modalities for synergistic R&D efforts across our team

Qualifications

  • PhD in bioengineering or chemical engineering, or 4+ years of industry experience with a focus on droplet microfluidics

  • Hands-on skills in soft photolithography and fluorescence microscopy

  • Fluent in using computer aided design tools (e.g. AutoCAD)

  • Proficiency in programming skills (e.g. Python)

  • Experience with assay development

  • Ability to work on-site

  • Eligibility to work in the U.S.

Our lab space is housed at The Engine, a brand new 150K sq/ft facility designed for deep tech companies. Centrally located at the biotechnology hub in Cambridge, The Engine can be easily accessed by red line, buses, and bikes.
