Job Brief
The Technician on the Cement & SCM team will be responsible for managing and executing material tests on cement, supplementary cementitious material (SCM), and concrete materials. Ideal candidates are enthusiastic about performing hands-on work with concrete materials in a fast-paced R&D environment. This position reports to the Engineering Manager of Cement & SCM.
This role is based in Oakland, California and is an on-site position.
Key Focus Areas of the role may include:
- Conduct ASTM standard tests related to cement, SCM, and concrete materials
- Conduct tests to support product R&D
- Engage in lab operation, safety, and maintenance activities
For this role, we’re looking for:
- Completion of high school or equivalent
- 2+ years of cement/concrete laboratory testing experience
- Completion of at least one of the following ACI certifications:
- ACI Concrete Laboratory Testing Technician Level 1 certification (Level 2 preferred)
- ACI Cement Physical Tester certification
- ACI Concrete Field Testing Grade I certification
- ACI Concrete Strength Testing Technician certification
- Ability to manage and execute on test schedules, memorialize results, and prepare test reports
- Ability to lift up to 40lbs on occasion
Additional skills that are preferred but not required:
- Experience with fresh concrete placement in large-scale lab or field conditions
- Experience with a variety of SCMs and admixtures in concrete batching and testing
