Founded in 2019, Brimstone is an innovative industrial startup with a proprietary, efficient, and deeply decarbonized process for producing Ordinary Portland Cement. We’re now growing our all-star team of sharp, mission-driven, collaborative professionals as we continue to refine our process and move towards construction of our first production facilities.
Contract (6+ months) | Full-time hours | Potential for extension and/or conversion based on business needs.
Position Summary
We are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Operations Technician to support daily rock processing, sample preparation, and laboratory testing activities. This role combines hands-on material handling with strict adherence to established Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to ensure safe, accurate, and repeatable test results. The ideal candidate is comfortable working in an industrial laboratory environment, performing physically demanding tasks, and maintaining a high level of precision and consistency.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare, process, and handle rock, mineral, and aggregate samples for laboratory testing.
Operate crushing, grinding, screening, and sample preparation equipment according to SOPs.
Execute laboratory tests and analytical procedures exactly as documented without deviation.
Record test results, observations, and operational data accurately and completely.
Transport, lift, and move samples, equipment, and materials throughout the facility.
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe laboratory and processing environment.
Perform routine equipment inspections, cleaning, and basic maintenance activities.
Follow all safety procedures, environmental requirements, and quality control standards.
Communicate test status, equipment issues, and operational concerns to supervisors.
Assist with inventory management, sample tracking, and chain-of-custody documentation as needed.
Ability to decontaminate and decommission equipment(supervised).
Required Qualifications
High school diploma or GED required.
Ability to follow detailed written and verbal instructions with a high degree of consistency.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to procedural compliance.
Ability to accurately document data and maintain organized records.
Comfortable working in a laboratory, industrial, manufacturing, or processing environment.
Basic mechanical aptitude and ability to learn equipment operation procedures.
Ability to work independently while maintaining productivity and quality standards.
Physical Requirements
Must be able to independently lift and carry 40+ pounds on a daily basis.
Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, and perform repetitive motions for extended periods.
Ability to work around dust, noise, moving equipment, and industrial processing machinery while wearing required PPE.
Ability to safely handle rock, mineral, and processed material samples throughout the workday.
