Cuberg is commercializing next-generation battery technology to power the future of electric mobility. The company was acquired in 2021 by Northvolt, a global supplier of sustainable, high-quality battery cells and systems. As Northvolt's Advanced Technology Center operating in Silicon Valley, Cuberg is developing and commercializing lithium metal batteries, building an innovation ecosystem around lithium-ion technology, and leveraging Northvolt's state-of-the-art manufacturing capabilities to rapidly scale up production of advanced batteries.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare materials, build test cells, and conduct electrochemical & analytical experiments to investigate cell failure modes and establish property trends
• Design and test several compounds, formulations, and techniques to explore new materials and design next generation battery chemistries
• Analyze experimental results to understand the impact of cell materials on cell performance
• Prepare, present, and share results with team members

• Currently pursuing a B.S., M.S., or Ph.D. degree in materials science, chemical engineering, chemistry, mechanical engineering, or a related field
• Able to work in person in San Leandro, California, for a duration of 6+ months

• The willingness to work in a laboratory setting and conduct experiments in gloveboxes and dry room environments
• The inclination to take initiative and ownership of your work and the ability to prioritize tasks
• A strong attention to detail
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
