Description

The Transmission & Interconnection Manager will be responsible for leading all aspects of the interconnection and transmission process, delivery strategies, strategic transmission development opportunities and advising on origination activities for company projects. The successful applicant will implement these strategies by assessing transmission and generation opportunities, preparing and filing interconnection documents and managing the Company’s overall transmission positions. The position is part of a team of professionals responsible for analyses that informs Fervo’s view and forecast of commercial opportunities across various transmission systems throughout North America.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate potential project sites based on transmission considerations
  • Support the interconnection process for Fervo projects, from assessment of interconnection options, filing of necessary applications, evaluation of utility technical studies, and support of interconnection agreement executions
  • Assist Development team in assessment of power delivery options and risks, including preparing transmission service applications, reviewing OASIS data, assessing status and opportunity to participate in multi-party or interregional transmission solutions, etc
  • Provide assessments of transmission-related market dynamics, such as LMP pricing, nodal basis risks, congestion risks, transmission path availability, etc
  • Serve as an expert on transmission-related market design and regulatory issues (e.g. FERC proceedings, energy market reform, FTRs/CRRs, transmission cost allocation, etc.), monitor key developments in these areas, and provide recommendations in these areas
  • Provide technical support of surface facility design for major switchyard and transmission line projects
  • Identify and recommend transmission development project opportunities
  • Serve as Fervo’s transmission interface with utilities and RTOs across North America

Qualifications

  • 5+ years’ experience related to generation, transmission, or marketing of electricity
  • Bachelors’ Degree in electrical engineering, economics, or related technical discipline
  • Experience related to negotiating, implementing, or administering interconnection and transmission service contracts, including engineering, legal, and related business experience.
  • Must be self-starting and willing and able to work independently in a dynamic corporate organization under pressure of tight deadlines and aggressive expectations.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with ISO markets, scheduling, operations, contracts or ISO Tariff provisions, pro forma and non pro forma contracts
  • Experience or knowledge of state and federal regulations applicable to the electric power grid industry
  • Hands-on-experience or solid understanding of transmission topology
  • Thorough understanding of Western energy markets, including, but not limited to: supply and demand, logistics, regulations and operations
  • Ability to operate in a fast-paced dynamic commodity market environment
