Description
The Manager of End User Compute will lead a dynamic team responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining the IT infrastructure that supports employees’ productivity tools, devices, and services. This role ensures that all end-user computing environments are secure, reliable, and optimized to meet the unique challenges of the energy/power industry. The manager will collaborate with cross-functional teams to align technology solutions with business objectives, enhance user satisfaction, and drive continuous improvement. This position will report to the Sr. Director of Information Technology & Cybersecurity.
Responsibilities
- Customer Focus: Institute a core focus on Customer Service and delivery of excellent support. The culture of customer service and the desire to help users must be foremost in this role. It should be passed onto the rest of the team as a requirement, and it must be ingrained in the way we operate.
- Teaching and Training: Lead formal or informal sessions within the organization on new systems, or changes in existing systems or processes. Be able to turn support moments into learning moments for as part of the customer experience.
- Leadership and Strategy: Develop and execute the EUC strategy in alignment with the company’s IT and business objectives. Lead a team of EUC professionals, providing coaching, mentorship, and career development opportunities. Manage relationships with key stakeholders, ensuring that EUC solutions meet business needs.
- Technology Management: Oversee the deployment, maintenance, and support of end-user devices, including desktops, laptops, mobile devices, and peripherals. Ensure proper configuration and management of enterprise software solutions, such as operating systems, productivity tools, and collaboration platforms (e.g., Office 365, Teams). Monitor and manage virtual desktop environments (e.g., Citrix, VMware Horizon).
- Operational Excellence: Ensure the team delivers outstanding support and issue resolution for end users, meeting or exceeding defined SLAs. Implement and enforce security best practices for end-user devices and data, including patch management, antivirus, and encryption. They should look to drive standardization, automation, and efficiency in EUC processes and workflows.
- Vendor and Budget Management: Manage vendor relationships, including procurement, licensing, and service agreements for EUC solutions. Develop and manage the EUC budget, ensuring cost-effective investments and operations.
- Innovation and Continuous Improvement: Stay updated on emerging technologies and trends in end-user computing to recommend innovative solutions. Identify and implement opportunities to improve user experience and system performance.
- Compliance and Risk Management: Ensure compliance with industry regulations, corporate policies, and IT governance standards. Mitigate risks related to end-user devices and access to critical systems.
- Project Support: Support the various teams within IT and the broader organization with specialized needs during projects. These projects may include IT and OT type projects, Building moves, office changes, etc.
- System Administration: This role will involve some systems administration duties for SaaS products and other solutions. Candidate is expected to be able to perform system administration duties as part of the role and to delegate accordingly.
- Asset Management: Support asset management and reporting through use of tools to include hardware assets and warranties as well as software licensing and utilization. Other elements of the ITIL Asset Management framework may need to be implemented in the future as well.
Required Qualifications
- 10+ years of relevant experience in Information Technology, with at least 3+ years in a leadership role managing end-user computing or IT support teams
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Cybersecurity or related field
- Strong knowledge of EUC technologies, including Windows and MacOS environments, Microsoft 365, virtual desktops (VDI), and mobile device management (MDM)
- Expertise in enabling hybrid work models through remote desktop solutions, virtual meeting tools, and secure file sharing platforms; Experience managing cloud-based services such as Azure Virtual Desktop, AWS Workspaces, or Google Workspace
- Strong understanding of networking principles as they relate to end-user computing, including VPN, Wi-Fi, and remote access solutions; Expertise in implementing and managing collaboration tools like Microsoft Teams, Zoom, or Cisco Webex
- Experience with ITIL or similar frameworks for service delivery and support
- Understanding of cybersecurity best practices in end-user computing
- Proven track record of leading large-scale, complex IT initiatives
Location
Fervo Energy is headquartered in Houston, TX with growing offices in Oakland, CA, Golden, CO, Reno, NV, and Salt Lake City, UT. This position will be eligible for some hybrid work flexibility, but regular in-office presence at Fervo’s Houston office will be required.
