Description
The Completions Engineer is responsible for leading the design, planning, and operational execution of Fervo’s first of a kind enhanced geothermal completions. The Senior Completions Engineer will work alongside the resource team to optimize completion parameters, identify novel technologies, provide engineering support, and collaborate with supply chain management support. This position will report to the Sr. Manager – Completions & Operations.
Responsibilities
- Develop step-by-step completion procedures to achieve well objectives and maintain full compliance with all regulatory and internal HSE requirements
- Develop completion cost estimates ranging from simple scoping estimates to probabilistic cost estimates
- Provide technical support on daily completion activities and serve as the primary point of contact for field engineering issues
- Support cross-functional field development optimization efforts through well planning and design optimization
- Compile technical and operations data for permitting and all other regulatory filings
- Lead after-action review to identify best practices and lessons learned; provide internal and external benchmarking and end of project reports
- Prepare tenders, analyze vendor responses, and support contract administration
- Proficiently work alongside reservoir engineers to stimulate fracture designs using ResFrac or other industry leading simulators
- Build relationships with drilling, workover, production and surface facilities personnel (Engineering and Operations) to effectively coordinate and provide support during business-critical needs
- Travel to the field frequently to oversee operations, and foster strong working relationships with field personnel and 3rd party vendors
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree or an equivalent in an Engineering discipline
- Minimum of 5 years of unconventional completion/intervention operations experience
- Experience with at least 2 different types of well completions technologies
- Experience with tools and methods for evaluating completion efficiency and optimizing well performance
- Proficiency with industry leading stimulation modeling software tools (ResFrac, Kinetix, etc.)
- Risk Management skills, including knowledge of Risk Assessment and Management of Change (MOC)
- Contractor performance management skills
- Experience in mentoring early career engineers
- Willing to shift priorities/focus depending on the business needs
- Teamwork and organizational skills; Analytical and problem-solving capabilities
- Written and verbal communication skills; Self-motivated and result oriented personality
- Ability to travel up to 30-40% of the time to field locations
Preferred Qualifications
- Hands-on field experience in drilling/completions
- Proficiency in casing and tubing stress analysis and loads associated with thermal effects during hydraulic stimulation and well production/injection
Location
Fervo Energy is headquartered in Houston, Texas with growing offices in Golden, CO, Oakland, CA, Reno, NV, and Salt Lake City, UT. Regular presence at the Houston office will be required. This position is eligible for relocation assistance. Frequent travel will be required.
