USD 80k-130k / year + Equity
Posted on Jul 9, 2025

Position Summary:
We are seeking an Optical Metrology Engineer to develop and execute precision metrology strategies for our advanced 3D nanostructured optical components. This role is critical in ensuring the accuracy, repeatability, and reliability of our fabrication processes and products. The Optical Metrology Engineer will work cross-functionally with design, process, and manufacturing teams to create and refine measurement systems capable of characterizing both nanoscale features and macroscopic optical performance.

What you'll do:

  • Design, develop, and implement optical metrology systems and measurement protocols tailored to our printed optics.

  • Perform surface, profile, and volumetric measurements using a range of optical metrology tools (e.g., interferometry, scatterometry, microscopy, profilometry).

  • Develop custom analysis workflows to extract meaningful performance metrics from raw metrology data.

  • Collaborate with process and design engineers to provide rapid feedback loops that support process development and manufacturing scale-up.

  • Evaluate, specify, and integrate metrology equipment and automation solutions as production volumes increase.

  • Investigate measurement uncertainties, instrument limitations, and develop methods to improve precision and repeatability.

  • Maintain detailed records of measurement methods, calibration procedures, and results.

What you bring:

  • Proven experience in optical metrology, precision measurement, or related disciplines.

  • Familiarity with optical measurement principles such as interferometry, microscopy, scatterometry, and surface profilometry.

  • Hands-on experience with metrology equipment setup, calibration, and troubleshooting.

  • Proven skills with data analysis and statistics.

  • Ability to work closely with interdisciplinary teams including process development, optical design, and manufacturing.

  • Familiarity with nanoscale fabrication, optics, or photonics processes is highly desirable.

  • Strong problem-solving skills and a detail-oriented mindset, particularly in the context of measurement accuracy and repeatability.

Additional Information:
This is an opportunity to join a collaborative and innovative team where your work will directly contribute to the realization of groundbreaking optical technologies. The Optical Metrology Engineer will play a key role in building measurement capabilities that support both product development and manufacturing at scale.
