Position Summary:
As our Lab Technician, you will support process development by conducting experiments, preparing samples, maintaining equipment, and ensuring lab organization and safety.
Roles & Responsibilities:
- Set up and conduct experiments in accordance with provided test plans
- Cut, epoxy, and polish metallurgical samples in preparation for characterization
- Perform basic metallurgical analysis using tools such as optical microscopy and X-ray diffraction
- Maintain lab organization by properly storing and labeling tools, samples, and components.
- Perform routine maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on lab equipment, ensuring proper calibration and functionality.
- Collaborate with the engineering team on data collection, sample analysis, and interpretation of experimental results
- Adhere to safety protocols and regulations, promoting a safe work environment.
Key Qualifications:
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in laboratory settings.
- Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills, with the ability to approach problems analytically.
- Experience working both independently and collaboratively in fast-paced environments.
- Exceptional attention to detail and diligent note-taking.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Associate or Bachelor's degree in Materials Science or related field
Additional Qualifications Desired:
- Proficiency in preparing and analyzing metallurgical samples.
- Familiarity with vacuum equipment.
- Experience with high-temperature furnaces and materials.
- Ability to operate various metrology equipment, such as SEM, optical microscope, XRD, and others.
- Familiarity with Python and other programming languages
