Description of Position:

Nelumbo is a science and technology company focused on generating advanced materials through surface modification. Nelumbo’s IceNein® product family is an anti-ice coating to increase the efficiency of heat transfer surfaces in HVAC-R systems. IceNein® is applied to the heat exchanger’s surface for applications including refrigerated transportation, stationary heat pumps, industrial refrigeration, and others. Kuraray, a Japanese manufacturer of chemicals, resins, and other functional materials, recently acquired Nelumbo to accelerate the deployment of the technology.

Nelumbo is seeking a full-time Supply Chain and Operations Specialist to join their IceNein® product team, focused on managing supply chain, inventory and fulfillment logistics operations. The position is eligible for on-site, hybrid, or remote work.

This role will support commercialization of our transportation refrigeration application by managing our supply chain from sourcing materials for production and coordinating order fulfillment with end customers. Nelumbo applies an anti-ice coating to the evaporator heat-exchanger for the refrigeration unit (TRU), which is installed as a retro-fit in customers’ trailers. Managing relationships with our upstream vendors and our customers’ operations teams will be critical to ensure the smooth flow of goods through manufacturing to fulfill customer orders.

The ideal candidate will have a strong ability to find and negotiate with vendors, manage inventory, communicate with internal and external stakeholders, and ensure smooth sales fulfillment operations. Prior experience with HVAC OEMs, the refrigerated transport industry, chemical processing or metal finishing industries are a strong plus.

Key Responsibilities:

o Build out upstream supply chain

o Vendor management & pricing negotiations for

  • Chemicals
  • HVAC-R components
  • Installation Technicians
  • Misc supplies

o SKU management: identifying and cataloging component models to customers’ system SKU’s, determining availability of each, communicating limitations to inform prioritization of sales, and subsequently effectively managing inventory while minimizing working capital

o Inventory / warehousing management

o Coordination with MFG partner - bridge between sales & production scheduling. Managing inbound raw materials to match sales volumes

o Sales Fulfillment

  • Order processing
  • Inventory management

o Administrative operations support

  • Sourcing materials & vendor management for R&D / Testing / Production
  • Cost forecasting in support of modeling (such as bulk chemicals)

Pre-Requisites:

  • Experienced user of Microsoft Office Suite (experience with Google Suite tools is a plus)

  • Experience with vendor sourcing, management, and price negotiations
