Quality Assurance & Control Lead
About Pulsenics
Pulsenics is catalyzing novel breakthroughs for electrochemical technologies that decarbonize our planet. Pulsenics’ innovation is the first to apply advanced spectroscopy techniques to industrial electrochemical applications, at scale, to target the industry’s energy waste problem. Our mission is to change how the industry, making up 15% of the world’s GDP, uses its energy.
“Pulsenics” means “Pulse Generation.”
True to its name, our proprietary hardware injects non-disruptive electrical pulses into an electrochemical system to extract a unique signature for its State-of-Health. When combined with our Data Management Software, this untapped data unlocks fundamental insights that lead to the most energy efficient operations, at scale.
Pulsenics hardware and software is currently being used by customers around the world to improve electrochemical system design and performance. Pulsenics’ customers run diverse electrochemical systems ranging from fuel cells and batteries to wastewater treatment and metallurgy.
At Pulsenics, you will have the opportunity to have a direct impact on the development of our next generation hardware and software products, alongside our world-class team of innovators and engineers!
Overview:
We are seeking a proactive and systems-driven Quality Assurance & Control Lead to ensure that Pulsenics’ products consistently meet the highest standards of performance, reliability, and safety. This role is critical to maintaining quality across our full product lifecycle—from prototype validation to customer delivery and long-term service. The ideal candidate will bring a strong foundation in test development, infrastructure ownership, and team leadership, combined with hands-on experience in diagnosing system-level issues and driving continuous improvement. This individual will play a central role in shaping our test protocols, maintaining infrastructure health, and managing the QA/QC team to enable scalable, production-ready products.
Responsibilities:
1. Product Validation & Standards Enforcement
- Own the design and enforcement of testing procedures to ensure that Pulsenics’ products meet functional, electrical, and performance standards.
- Develop validation procedures for subassemblies, PCBs, firmware-integrated systems, and full product configurations.
- Lead final product testing sign-off based on clearly defined quality and performance gates to ensure all products delivered to clients meet quality standards.
2. Testing Infrastructure & Safety
- Own and maintain the testing infrastructure across labs and production areas, including test stations, fixtures, equipment health, calibration schedules, and system uptime.
- Develop and enforce safety procedures for high-voltage, high-current testing environments.
- Ensure all personnel are trained and equipped to safely execute tests on the testing infrastructure.
3. Hardware Servicing, Diagnostics & Repair Protocols
- Own the creation, documentation, and enforcement of diagnostic procedures for servicing and repairing products.
- Define requalification standards and support the product support team in tracking and logging product repair outcomes.
- Coordinate closely with QA personnel to ensure consistent and traceable rework.
- Troubleshoot quality issues and provide structured feedback to engineering to improve product design for manufacturability, robustness, and consistency.
- Participate in design reviews with a focus on testability and downstream quality risks and review of historic quality issues.
4. Quality Reporting & Documentation
- Maintain structured documentation for all QA processes, test procedures, and corrective actions.
- Prepare detailed reports on quality performance, product reliability, and validation outcomes.
- Drive Root Cause Analysis (RCA) workflows for returned units and internal failures.
- Maintain a curated log of historical quality issues, associated processes, and the design changes implemented to resolve them.
5. QA Team Leadership
- Manage and mentor QA personnel responsible for designing testing infrastructure, executing test plans, data logging, and station operations.
- Create and enforce daily/weekly QA schedules to meet build deadlines and shipment targets.
- Serve as the primary escalation point for test execution issues and resource prioritization.
6. Cross-functional Collaboration
- Partner with Operations, Manufacturing, and Engineering teams to align on quality expectations, improve test coverage, and close the loop between design and validation.
- Identify opportunities to reduce test cycle time, increase automation, and ensure repeatable results at scale.
Requirements:
- 7-10+ years of experience in hardware validation, QA/QC, or product testing within a high-tech or manufacturing environment
- Strong understanding of electrical testing principles, diagnostic workflows, and design validation processes
- Proven experience developing and maintaining test infrastructure, including fixtures, safety protocols, and automation tools
- Demonstrated ability to enforce rigorous quality standards while working in a fast-paced, iterative R&D environment
- Experience managing or mentoring technicians or interns in hands-on QA/QC roles
- Comfortable working with cross-functional teams including Engineering, Manufacturing, and Operations to ensure product quality and readiness
- Excellent problem-solving skills and a systems-thinking mindset; able to trace root causes and implement sustainable fixes
- Strong documentation and communication skills; able to prepare test protocols, validation reports, and RCA documents for technical and non-technical audiences
- Familiarity with rework and diagnostic processes for electronics is an asset
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field preferred
