Job Description: As an Optomechanical Assembly Technician you will work closely with the manufacturing team to assist on a variety of hardware assembly and manage procurement tasks. Most of the projects at Qunnect sit at the intersection of optics, atomic physics and electronics. You will help the manufacturing team to perform inventory tracking, procurement, purchasing, and assembly tasks to support the day-to-day functions of manufacturing. As a salaried employee, you must be prepared to assist during periods of high volume and tight deadlines, which may not adhere to a standard workday. As this is an entry level job, it is of utmost importance that you are coachable and eager to learn new skills.

This is an in-person role.

Tasks:

  • Detail oriented with strong clerical and organizational skills.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and assembly skills.
  • Be a self-starter, who will work independently on a variety of daily tasks.
  • Significant interaction with data management in either spreadsheets or database.
  • Ability to inspect incoming parts, log inventory, and process returns.
  • Familiarity with micrometers, calipers, multimeters, and other measuring tools.
  • Ability to effectively troubleshoot a mixture of products, repair, re-assemble, and test.
  • Openness to cross-training within the department to learn other skills and work processes.
  • Ability to read blueprints and work from assembly drawings.
  • Demonstrated ability understanding systems and sub-systems a plus.
  • Ability to work with high-tolerance specifications is a plus.
  • Experience creating hierarchical instructions or data sets is a plus.
  • Soldering ability and basic understanding of electronics are a plus.

Required Qualifications:

  • Degree or formal training in Mechanical Assembly and/or Engineering, Optics or other related fields.
  • Fluency with software: MS Word, Excel or Google Docs, Sheets.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in project management or logistics.
  • Basic laboratory experience.
  • Basic experience with electronics.
  • Basic understanding of optics.
  • Fluency with softwares: Excel/Microsoft Office suite, AirTable, CAD.
