SirenOpt® provides metrology and manufacturing intelligence solutions that accelerate sustainable and smart manufacturing of advanced coatings, thin films and nano-scale materials, with demonstrated use cases across battery, semiconductor, aerospace, electronics and many other industries. Micro- or nano-scale materials enable many high-growth industries, including lithium, sodium and solid-state batteries, solar cells, carbon sequestration and conversion technologies, optical devices, quantum devices, displays, adhesives, medical implants, semiconductors, packaging materials, and many others.
SirenOpt is pioneering a paradigm shift in advanced materials characterization by leveraging cold atmospheric plasma, machine learning and predictive analytics to non-destructively create uniquely distinctive, multifaceted material fingerprints in real-time. SirenOpt transforms current measurement blind spots into rich multi-layered material insights, which enable intelligent performance-centric decision-making. SirenOpt thus accelerates R&D and process optimization, enhances product performance, and delivers higher production quality to maximize value in both standalone (benchtop) and integrated (in-line) applications.
Job Description
In this roll you will:
Design, prototype, test, and verify electromechanical components of the metrology system. Perform fundamental studies to characterize plasma/surface interactions for a variety of thin films. Develop sensor calibration methods, prototype manufacturing processes, and installation procedures. Develop sensor operation protocols and optimize process parameters according to customer needs. Create and maintain technical design documentation (e.g., requirements, wiring diagrams, part schematics, and test reports). Work in a small, cross-functional project team to research, develop, and validate new concepts for low-temperature plasma-based metrology. Interact directly with potential clients and participate in customer site visits to inform product design. Telecommute is permitted within normal commute distance of office location.
REQUIREMENTS:
Master’s or foreign equivalent degree in Mechanical Engineering, Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
National travel 10% of time in the US to customer site visits
Must have work/internship experience or completed coursework in each of the following:
- Mechanical design using CAD programs such as OnShape, Solidworks with careful consideration of design for manufacturing (DFM) and design for assembly (DFA) principles.
- Basic electrical engineering knowledge and breadboard electronics development with the aid of microcontrollers such as Arduino and Raspberry Pi.
- Programming in MATLAB or Python.
- Rapid prototyping skills using machine shop equipment such as 3D printers, laser cutters, bandsaws, drill presses.
- Identifying the root cause of design failures.
- Troubleshooting and unblocking technical risks in mechanical designs by prototyping test fixtures and conducting relevant experiments.
- Drafting engineering drawings and assembly documentation to communicate fabrication and assembly needs to external suppliers.
- Managing a Bill of Materials and Release template to systematize product development and assembly.
- Communicating design intent and tradeoffs in relation to time and budget to relevant executive and engineering stakeholders within the company.
